Brian McCloud, MEd

Brian completed his MEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Sport Psychology at the University of Utah in 2021. Brian currently serves as a mental health counselor of Psychology & Wellness in the Department of Athletics at the University of Utah. Prior to working in the mental health field, Brian was an elementary and middle school P.E. & Wellness teacher and Firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service.

Brian completed his internship at the Rape Recovery Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. While there he worked with clients with a wide range of identities both individually and in group therapy experiencing extreme attachment and relational trauma. During my time at the RRC, Brian found great interest in men’s engagement. With a special interest in racially, ethnically, sexually, and gender diverse male survivors and finding ways to support them in seeking services and being seen in the process.

Brian utilizes and is interested in Interpersonal and Relational Cultural models that look to build relationships and an attempt to stay informed on cultural and diverse areas of this work and in life. Brian also has an interest in Mindfulness and Psychosomatic approaches to healing trauma.

Personally, Brian reads a lot and listens to podcasts while moving his body. He is also looking forward to finding new ways of connecting with people now that he is done with grad school.
