Richard Sims has worked with methods of Body Awareness, the Martial Arts and mindfulness practices for over twenty-five years. He utilizes this experience while teaching people how to create a mind body state of power and relaxation. From here he shows how to use this new empowered state to work through troubling emotions or circumstance.
His approach includes Somatic (Body) techniques, trauma sensitive and wider scope Mindfulness practices and “then some” to engage, educate and empower. Being sensitive to the trauma survivor, Breathing, Meditation, Centering, and the principles of Aikido, (a non-violent martial art) are used to help people live in the present with strength and comfort.
Rich holds a 2nd degree Black Belt in Aikido. His rank is recognized by the Aikikai in Japan and the Aikido World Alliance. Two of the other main systems that inform his practice are Being in Movement® mindbody education, which he continues to study directly from its creator Paul Linden PhD and MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction).
He teaches people who have a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, and trauma caused by personal disease or the illness of loved ones.
His skills are also used to help adults, kids and teens achieve their professional, educational, personal and athletic goals. To learn more about Rich’s work visit his website at RichardESims.com.
