Alta Lodge is nestled in a quaint alpine setting at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon, outside Salt Lake City, UT. The Lodge is part of a rare tradition of country inns where the attentiveness and warmth of family hoteliers is combined with the pleasures of excellent dining and comfortable surroundings.  The atmosphere of the Alta Lodge is relaxed, intimate and informal.  This will be our 23rd visit to Alta Lodge, which tells you how much we love the facility.

Located at 8,600 feet (2,700 meters) at the base of the Alta Ski Area in Utah's Wasatch Mountains, the setting offers gorgeous surroundings and spectacular mountain views. During August, the summer flowers are often still in bloom, adding to the beauty of this setting.

Private meeting spaces are available for all Weekend of Recovery sessions. The weekend is designed to provide a mixture of full participant community activities and small group break out sessions. Large group sessions are conducted in an adjacent building with a full wall of windows that views a 10,000 foot mountain. Small groups are conducted in comfortable physical spaces in the Lodge. Special attention is given to creating safe environments that allow participation at whatever level is authentic for each participant.

The Lodge provides comfortable lodging, with an ample supply of triple, double, or single occupancy rooming options.

The weekend incorporates mindfulness skills as a tool for managing difficult emotions such as anxiety. The mountain environment provides a wonderful settings for expanded mindfulness and program activities.

The weekend allows ample leisure time for reflection and to enjoy the restorative quality of this mountain ecosystem. Optional time for meditation walks and a low-impact recreational hike are included in the program agenda.

Meals at Alta Lodge are of the highest quality. The outstanding cuisine will certainly be one highlight of your Weekend of Recovery. Special dietary requests are easily available. On Sunday, we have access to an elaborate Sunday Buffet, a grand buffet featuring gourmet breakfast, lunch, and dessert items! All of your food and snacks are included in your registration fees.

About Weekends of Recovery

Completion of a Level 1 Weekend of Recovery (WOR) is a prerequisite for attendance at an Advanced WOR.

Advanced WOR retreats are longer than the Level 1 WOR, with the program beginning on Friday morning and concluding at 2 pm on Sunday. Therefore, participants are encouraged to arrive on Thursday, with registration available on Thursday evening as well as early Friday morning. Special Alta Lodging package rates are available to all who arrive on Thursday and will include your meals prior to the actual beginning of the retreat on Friday morning. We hope the earlier ending on Sunday will allow for easier travel arrangements on Sunday for east coast participants. However, participants are also able to register for an optional package that includes Sunday evening dinner, lodging, and/or Monday morning breakfast.

Facilitator Team

The Facilitator Team for the 2019 Alta Advanced WOR is comprised of both male and female facilitators; Bill Burmester, Sandi Forti, Margaret Hunter, Sharon Imperato, Ernesto Mujica, Rich Sims, Matt Stella, and Jim Struve

Registration Includes

2 nights lodging, meals from Friday lunch thru Sunday lunch, and all program fees.
