Ysabel Hinojosa

Ysabel graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in May 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Minor in Addiction Studies. After completing her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling & Wellness at New York University, she plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology.

She was previously a Kindergarten teacher but is self-employed by her small business Meow Brain, which focuses on providing environmental sustainability while contributing profits to mental health, animal, and other significant organizations. As a result, she has prevented nearly 3,000 pounds of clothing and hard goods from entering landfills since 2017. She has also dedicated time as a Crisis Textline Counselor since 2018.

Ysabel worked as a research assistant for a stress, heath, and sleep lab during her undergraduate studies. Through this, she presented a paper with her partner on Stress-Related Eating and received the Psi Chi West Region Research Award.

Ysabel is interested to engage in research and clinical work focused on mindfulness meditation, animal-assisted therapy, trauma, and the dimensions of wellness.
