The Weekends of Recovery (WOR) are conducted at locations throughout the United States. Venues are carefully selected with special attention to providing safe environments for positive healing experiences. Because of the high quality of facilities, the special environment setting, and the superior competency of staff – we have established a unique working relationship with each of the site locations.
The program offers a wide range of activities designed for safety and with attention for how to engage male survivors who may have a long history of isolation. Our events provide a blending of large and small group activities. Check What is WOR? for more information.
Days of Recovery are shortened versions of our longer weekend programs. We are currently offering two free DORs in Massachusetts this Spring.
MenHealing Weekends/Days of Recovery are open to any male, 18 or older, who has been sexually victimized as a child and/or assaulted or raped as an adult, or who has experiences any other form of sexual violation at any age..
We do not want cost to be a barrier for anyone to attend any of our retreats. 20 - 80% scholarship grants are available for both triple and double occupancy room selections at all Weekends of Recovery. Scholarships are considered in order of submission. Please apply NOW.
Information about each specific event and venue for 2019 is provided below
Hope Springs is located in the solitude of the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Hope Springs offers a combination of comfortable housing and 130 rolling acres of ridges, ravines, wooded acres and meadows, including two ponds, walking trails, wildflowers, wildlife, a campfire circle and a labyrinth. While at Hope Springs, you will take part in delicious, healthy food, warm, inviting accommodations and exquisite grounds.
Whidbey Institute inhabits a classic Northwest Forest, located about one hour north of Seattle (approximately 2 hours from SEATAC airport). Whidbey Institute is carefully integrated into gardens and the forest ecosystem. The weekend incorporates mindfulness skills as a tool for managing difficult emotions such as anxiety. Gardens and a contemplative labyrinth provide a wonderful setting for expanded mindfulness and program activities. Careful attention is given to nutritious food, much of it grown on the premises. The chef enjoys educating participants about the food being served at each meal.
