Uma Dorn, Ph.D., PC

Uma P. Dorn, PhD, PC has been working in the mental health field for almost 15 years primarily working with children and families. She graduated with her Masters (2006) and Specialist in Education (2007) in Professional Counseling from Georgia State University.  She received her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Georgia in 2011. Her APA-Accredited internship was completed at Northwest Georgia Consortium with focused training in an inpatient hospital setting, a child/adolescent residential treatment center, and a community mental health clinic. Dr. Dorn received additional training in Child Clinical Psychology at a postdoctoral fellowship at the Emory School of Medicine. She conducted psychological evaluations and provided trauma based psychotherapy services to patients of a local children’s hospital.  Following the completion of her postdoctoral training, she was hired-on as a part-time psychologist through a SAMHSA funded grant, continuing her trauma work with children and families impacted by child maltreatment. Dr. Dorn also worked as an independent licensed psychologist in private practice providing psychological testing and individual and family therapy. She currently teaches courses related to clinical practice and supervision of clinical work (i.e. counseling skills, practicum and internship, etc.)


Dr. Dorn uses a multicultural and ecosystemic perspective in her work with clients including trauma. She has presented at local, national, and international conferences. Dr. Dorn continues her clinical work in private practice providing psychological services. She is also a co-founder of an international consulting firm working with human services organizations to address specific mental health initiatives.
