Night of Healing Event a Success
This year’s event in Salt Lake City was hosted and organized by Taking Back Ourselves. MenHealing and 16 other organizations participated as co-sponsors. TBO Executive Director, Mikele Rauch, was in Salt Lake for the event and Jim Struve, MenHealing Executive Director helped to facilitate a panel of 5 inspiring WOR and TBO alumni: THANKS to Drew, Jeff, Juanita, Libby, and Sam for your courageous voices. Nearly 100 people attended the event.
Here are words from Mikele that summarize the event:
"…[November 8th] -- was a miraculous testimony to the strength of love, and fierce healing power of community.
Thank you to all our collaborators. It was a true inspiration to know how powerful the community of care is in Salt Lake City. I have not seen such a phenomenal professional community like that in any big city anywhere in the country!
It was especially inspiring to see the military and the police there to serve and to support survivors of sexual assault. Your support and sensitivity, your commitment to educating your professionals can truly change the culture and be a model for the rest of the country."

Save on YOUR Taxes by Giving to MenHealing
Here are two ways to consider:
Giving appreciated stock you’ve held for more than a year is a better tax strategy than giving cash. If you donate stock that has increased in value since you bought it more than a year ago – and if you itemize deductions -- YOU can take a charitable deduction for the stock’s fair market value on the day you give it away. You’ll also avoid capital-gains taxes on the increase in value over time, which you would have had to pay if you sold the stock then gave the charity the cash proceeds.
Another donation option to consider, if you’re over 70.5 years old, is a qualified charitable distribution (QCD
) from your tax-deferred retirement account, such as a traditional IRA.
A QCD is a tax-free distribution from a retirement account that can be donated directly to a qualified charity and be used to meet up to $100,000 of the required minimum distribution on your retirement account. You don’t have to include that distribution into your taxable income, thereby reducing your tax burden.
Here's some expert advice about giving stock and/or QCD donations before the end of the tax year:

One-Time or Sustainer Donations
As always, we welcome YOUR support thru one-time or recurring "sustainer" donations. We are now able to process one time financial contributions directly thru our website, using the secure AffiniPay platform (an affiliate of Chase Bank). This offers an alternative for those of YOU who have been requesting we provide an alternative to PayPal for making YOUR contributions. Sustaining donations are still made through PayPal, but will be changed to the AffiniPay platform soon.Let Us Know if YOU Have Other Ideas or Suggestions
We are interested in exploring any other options for fund-raising that you may have. And if you have questions about any of the options included in this announcement, please let me know – I’ll be glad to clarify.
We welcome your feedback and any ideas about our work via: email@example.com
Thanks for joining us in any of these ways to contribute financially to support the work of MenHealing.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING to each of YOU in whatever way you celebrate this Holiday.
