Scholarship Fund Updates

Thanks to generous financial contributions from donors like YOU, MenHealing is able to maintain a robust Scholarship Fund.

  • In 2018, 40% of Weekend of Recovery participants received scholarship assistance

  • 58% of men who have thus far registered for 2019 WOR events are able to attend because of scholarship assistance

  • A grant from the MA Office of Victims of Crime, subsidized FREE attendance for 100% of the participants who attended the recent Day of Recovery events in the greater Boston area

In addition…

  • A special thanks to donors who contributed a total of $9,562.50 to the Kilimanjaro Expedition Climb during 2018 and 2019, all of which money was given to our Scholarship Fund

  • We also want to acknowledge the Tyler Perry Foundation for their $10,000 gift to our Scholarship Fund in January 2019.

Please consider whether YOU can make a financial gift to help us maintain – and expand-  this Scholarship Fund which has become critically important for so many male survivors who would otherwise not be able to attend a WOR or DOR event

2019 Weekend of Recovery Events

Registrations for our up-coming 2019 Weekend of Recovery events remains very active.

ONLY 16 DAYS REMAIN TO REGISTER for the 2019 Advanced WOR on August 9 – 11th at Alta, UT. Registration closes for this 75th WOR on July 26th. The theme of this year’s event is “Calming the Conflicts Inside: Tools for Self-Compassion and Healing.” Join us for this exciting and dynamic weekend and to renew your contacts with WOR/DOR Alumni.

Registration remains open for the  Alta, UT. Level 1 WOR on September 20 -22nd. We are filling this weekend quickly so consider registering early if you want to attend. For more information and/or to register early.

Registration is now open for the Hope Springs, OH WOR on October 18 – 20th, 2019.

For a complete roster of WOR events scheduled thru October 2020, check here.

We do not want cost to be a barrier for anyone to attend any of our retreats. 20 - 80% scholarship grants and underwriting discounts are available this year for both triple and double occupancy room selections at all Weekends of Recovery. ALL events have scholarships available; reducing tuition to as low as $160 for the entire weekend.

MenHealing Video Project

An Invitation for YOU to Help Other Male Survivors

We have begun developing a unique and exciting outreach video to highlight the diversity of male survivors. This brief 2 – 5 minute video – tentatively entitled “Did You Know” – will offer a compelling visual montage to address three important issues:

  • de-mystifying the invisibility of male sexual victimization

  • challenging male survivors to reach out for help

  • inspiring male survivors to share in the transformative promise and power of healing

We are looking for feedback from a minimum of 50 male survivors – and family, allies, friends, or providers – who can complete a simple survey to offer YOUR input to help us craft the text and format for this video. Please respond to Jim Struveas soon as possible if YOU are interested and available to provide YOUR feedback.

This “Did You Know” video project is inspired by a wonderful video – “What If I Told You” – that has been produced by Our Kids, a nonprofit agency in Nashville, TN. If you have not already viewed this video – you are strongly encouraged to watch it. Then, imagine the possibilities for our MenHealing “Did You Know” video that focuses more precisely on male survivors. And participate in the feedback survey.
